Things to Shout About
The Present
In 2021 we won not one but two business awards. Sarah, our MD, was so pleased:
“Wow, what a fantastic achievement! We’re over the moon with our two awards (Large Business of the Year and Manufacturer & Producer of the Year) in the Somerset Chamber of Commerce Business Awards, and haven’t stopped smiling since the ceremony. My son James was the first to text me to say Congratulations, which made me a very proud Mum & MD.
As for all businesses, it’s been a challenging year, but our amazing team spirit has got us through it together. My team are dedicated, committed and brilliant and quite frankly we couldn’t have done any of this without them. We can’t thank them enough, every single one of them.
The business fortunately is continuing to grow, thanks to the appetite for the delicious desserts that we make, and we’ll continue to look for experienced and passionate people to join our brilliant team, and in the meantime we will continue to enjoy the feeling of being double winners in these very prestigious awards!”
We hope to continue growing, innovating and eating fabulous desserts for many years to come and are excited to have been nominated for a national award, the British Chamber of Commerce ‘Problem Solver’. We lost out to Astra Zeneca for their vaccine programme during the pandemic so we will gracefully accept defeat against a very worthy winner!
The Past
2020 finished up as an exciting year for us, for many reasons! We launched our first ever range in Sainsbury’s; twin-pack desserts in the Taste the Difference Range – a Lemon Posset and the most delicious Vegetarian Panna Cotta in the market (and that is not just our own opinion), there are new lines in Morrison’s, including The Best Tarte au Citron and Millionaire’s Tart, our Cookie Pies (Carlos and Dessert Menu) in Aldi continues to outsell any other dessert in their range, along with the delicious new Gastro Millionaires pot, Tesco Finest Frozen is flourishing with the Tarte au Citron. In 2020 / 21 we launched and re-developed over 40 lines for our customers, driving quality, value and deliciousness on to supermarket shelves and restaurant plates and continuing to show that dedication to quality and innovation is always at the top of our agenda.
In the past few years we have received many accolades as well as the Somerset Business Awards in 2021, for both our business and our products including the coveted Grocer Gold Awards for 2 years running, not one but TWO Mendip Business Awards, one for Service Excellence and the second was the top prize, Mendip Business of the Year and a Great Taste Star for our Sicilian Lemon Cheesecake. We were over the moon to be finalists in the IGD ‘Outstanding Small Business of the Year” Category, but to be given an award by one of our customers for our dedication and service, was probably the best of them all.
Frome Ladies Hockey Club and Harrison Collis, a young and promising BMX eventer, have been benefited from being sponsored by Marston Foods and we look forward to seeing where the future takes them.
Hannah Culff from We Hear You (WHY?) a Frome based charity that has been supported by Marston Foods for the last 4 years says:
We Hear You relies heavily on the local community and without the support of local businesses we would not be able to continue the work that we do supporting adults and children who are affected by cancer and other terminal illnesses in the local area.”
